Hi! I’m Amy

I started in marketing during my post-graduate career. I finished university in 2011 – the middle of a recession. My degree was in Creative Writing and English Literature, so I looked for writing opportunities in the area. There weren’t any. So I looked into publishing, but the only jobs I found were based in London. I soon came to the conclusion that there just aren’t enough opportunities for Northern writers. 

That’s why I set up Northern Voices Content – I want to raise the profile of Northern writers and share their rich stories and experiences with new readers.

Past Experience

In 2012, I was a Business Development Assistant in Skelmanthorpe. The Brand manager for the company found out about my degree and asked me to start writing case studies and social media posts. It was my first taste of marketing, and I found I had a knack for it.

I developed this wherever I could – online courses, volunteering for the Huddersfield Literature Festival, or even some freelance work. Over the years, I’ve learnt a lot from each job I’ve had, learning and developing skills like:
